Hey! My name is Mafalda and I live in Portugal. I have loved horses since I can remember. The movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron", touched me in a way that it's impossible to explain and my passion for horses just kept growing from there! I was only 12 years when I first saw the movie. I remember I kept drawing Spirit, over and over, at home, at my school art projects, everything was about Spirit! People would ask me: "Why Spirit? What is that movie all about? It's just a cartoon!" To me, it's so much more than that. It helped me growing as a person, to put family and the ones I love always in first place, to fight for my own thoughts and opinions. It teached me about how important our freedom actually is.
Around 2008, I discovered the brand "Breyer Model Horses", and I loved it! I remember just wanting to buy every single model, but, it was always hard for me due to shipping costs. I would eventually get one for Christmas or my Birthday. I kept searching more about the model horse world and I found out that people would actually customize them, enter in Live Shows or do Youtube videos with them. I was shocked! It was a whole new world to me and I was Loving it!
Jumping to 2014, when I begun dating my lovely boyfriend, Simon, (we're now married!! :D) who was and still is one of my biggest supporters and has always motivated me to start customizing! He kept saying I had a beautiful talent and that I should totally take a leap of faith and simply, have fun! I kept dodging the idea, because I always struggled with not fitting in. I remember seeing the "market" and the amazing artists, and thought I would never be recognized or that I was simply not good enough. Until, in 2019, after hearing Simon's advice for years, I did took my leap of faith and created my own studios: AdragaSky!
I couldn't be happier! I simply created it to have fun, I wasn't worried anymore if people would like me or my art at all, I just wanted to have that little corner on the internet, where I could share my art as a virtual diary! I tried to customize, realistic horses, but then, I thought I'd give it a go to try and make my own Spirit! It has been my childhood dream to actually "work" on something related to Spirit, no matter what that would be! I did my very first model, using the cheapest clay ever, and the feedback was insane! People actually liked it and so, I grabbed the chance to finally do something I want and love! I have been receiving a huge ammount of love in my social media, people tell me they love what I do and keep supporting me!
After that, I begun watching more and more tutorials online, searching for the correct materials to work with to be able to provide an actual good work and of course, I kept improving my Spirit art. I feel I am on the right path but, there's so much more to learn. I do feel I'm constantly learning and that truly makes me happy! I couldn't be more thankful. Thank you, to everyone!
